The efforts of our Spirit Team have culminated in enterprise-wide initiatives geared to not only make a difference in the lives of others, but to also promote a culture of unity, excitement and pride among employees. The work of the Spirit Team is focused on investing in the Magellan community - both internal and external. Internally, our initiatives include honoring diversity among employees, creating a preferred work place and celebrating employees. Externally, our initiatives have included military appreciation campaigns as well as numerous charity drives geared toward fulfilling a community need. Such collections have included food, school supplies, clothing and more. Our Spirit Team also spearheaded a companywide fundraiser to support relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, which raised $230,000.
  • MYLIFE (Magellan Youth Leaders Inspiring Future Empowerment) - Founded by Magellan of Arizona in 2008, MY LIFE consists of teens and young adults facing mental health, substance abuse and/or foster care challenges. Through regular meetings and local and national workshops, presentations and performances, the group focuses on inspiring youth to share their stories and support each other in their recovery goals. Its purpose is to help reduce the stigma associated with mental illness, inspire other teens to seek help if needed, and take an active role in changing the behavioral health system for the better. Each year, MYLIFE groups across the country host youth involvement festivals - MY Fest - and features live music, entertainment, art, food, and information about resources and services from a variety of youth and family-based organizations.  The annual festival is planned and produced entirely by MYLIFE youth members. During the past three years, the Arizona MYLIFE group has grown to more than 100 members and has inspired and educated more than 8,000 youth and families about mental health issues. Also, the group has provided youth the opportunity to meet face-to-face with state government officials to share concerns and ideas about the issues affecting youth in the local community. In addition to Arizona, MY LIFE has recently established four additional groups in Pennsylvania and Florida. To learn more, visit www.facebook.com/MYLIFEyouth.
